Im Frühjahr 2003 ist meine chronische Hepatitis-B-Erkrankung festgestellt worden. Nach eigenen Recherchen erfuhr ich, dass die Infektion bereits im Januar 1988 bei mir vorlag, ich aber darüber nicht in Kenntnis gesetzt wurde. Wann und auf welchem Weg es zur Ansteckung kam, lässt sich deshalb nicht mehr ergründen. Nach dem ersten Schock habe ich versucht, mit der Krankheit zu leben, was mir bis jetzt auch sehr gut gelungen ist. Durch einen sehr gesunden Lebenswandel (kein Alkohol), viel Bewegung und vor allem durch eine positive Lebenseinstellung (auch ein überzeugter Glaube) und eine neue Lebenspartnerin ist mir die Freude an einem glücklichen Leben wiedergegeben worden. Im Jahr 2005 begann ich eine Therapie mit täglichen Lamivudin-Tabletten. Diese hat die Hepatitis-B-Infektion erst gut unterdrückt, zwei Jahre später war das Virus aber gegen das Medikament resistent geworden und vermehrte sich wieder. Seitdem nehme ich als zweites Medikament Adefovir hinzu. Inzwischen ist meine Virusmenge wieder fast nicht messbar.
