Interested in leading a global organisation in the fight to eliminate viral hepatitis?

15 Sep 2016 Bridie Taylor

The World Hepatitis Alliance (WHA) is seeking nominations for two key offices; President-Elect and Regional Executive Board Members, to drive action towards the elimination of viral hepatitis.

We are looking for dedicated people living with or who have lived with chronic viral hepatitis and are keen to advance the hepatitis agenda at a regional and global level. Below you will find more information about those roles and on how to nominate.

The primary role of the President-Elect is to collaborate with Charles Gore, the current President, to learn the role and to become familiar with the activities of the World Hepatitis Alliance and its governance before taking over the post of President in 2018. Key responsibilities include establishing the overall strategic direction of WHA, learning the process of informing and influencing the viral hepatitis agenda and fully engaging in the transition to leadership process.

This is an extremely exciting leadership role for any individual passionate about progressing the hepatitis agenda at a global level.

Closing date: 17 October 2016

Regional Executive Board Members

Regional Executive Board Members are intrinsic to the success of the World Hepatitis Alliance. A Board Member will be elected to represent each of the six regions as defined by WHO to provide the patient perspective and ensure that WHA remains a patient-driven organisation. As such, their duties are to provide governance and strategic direction to the organisation; articulate the interests of patient groups in their region within WHA Board discussions; where requested, help patient groups with national advocacy; and encourage patient groups to work together, both nationally and regionally, to give WHA greater cohesion and strength.

This is an extremely rewarding role for any individual who wants to represent their region and be involved at a global level.

Closing date: 17 October 2016

How to nominate a candidate?

The same process applies for both offices:

  1. Carefully review the role description with a particular focus on the person specification to ensure the person you have in mind fulfils all of the criteria for the role.  Please note - you can only nominate a candidate for Regional Board Member who resides in the same country as your organisation. This rule does not apply for President Nominations.
  1. Return the nomination form duly completed in English to by 17th October 2016 including ‘WHA 2016 Election’ in the subject line. Please note that the front page of the form must be completed by yourself and page 2-4 by the candidate; failure to follow the instructions stipulated may result in the nomination not being considered.
