For the first World Hepatitis Testing Week, WHA has created a briefing on the principles of community-based testing.

Community-based testing for hepatitis B and C is delivered outside of healthcare facilities by trained community members and/or healthcare professionals.

By taking place in a variety of settings – including workplaces, parks, places of worship, or by using mobile vans or going door-to-door – it is possible to reach people who may be less likely to visit traditional healthcare facilities.

The briefing explains why community-based testing should be integrated into hepatitis testing programmes, different strategies for implementing it, and provides useful case studies.
