Established in November 2023, the Southwest Somali Association of Social Work (SSASW) is actively engaged in monitoring hepatitis cases across various levels in Somalia. At the local level, hospitals in Mogadishu report hepatitis cases, contributing to the overall understanding of the city’s health trends. At the regional level, in Baidoa, SSASW’s headquarters works closely with local hospitals to track and document an average of over 30 new hepatitis cases each month. This data is critical for identifying regional health issues and planning appropriate interventions. On the state level, SSASW collaborates with health authorities and hospitals across the Southwest State of Somalia to compile comprehensive data on hepatitis A, B, C, and D. This coordination ensures effective reporting and response strategies. The ongoing collection and analysis of this data are essential for implementing targeted preventive measures and educational programs to address hepatitis effectively.
