PARSA Trust were established to help hepatitis elimination efforts in Pakistan. They began as a specialty liver clinic offering free hepatitis screening and free or subsidised treatment to those with HCV. Numerous screening camps and awareness lectures have been conducted in and around Gujranwala since PARSA Trust became functional. They carried out a hepatitis C micro-elimination project in Gujranwala with the backing of local philanthropists and presented on this at AASLD in 2019. Another micro-elimination campaign based in a village is currently in progress.
For WHD 2019 their clinical director gave a talk “Eliminating Hepatitis – What’s Next” at District Headquarters Hospital, Gujranwala. He was also one of the speakers at the WHO Seminar held on July 26, 2019 in Islamabad delivering a talk on “Training the Health Workforce – Project ECHO”. The last talk in connection with World Hepatitis Day was on 28th July 2019 at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi via video link “Elimination of Hepatitis C in Pakistan – A Dream or Reality”. They hosted two webinars for World Hepatitis Day in 2020, endorsed by the American College of Physicians.
