PRIMA is a non-governmental organisation established in 1998 and based in Slovakia’s capital Bratislava. Prima’s multidisciplinary professional team works towards preventing risky behaviour in various target groups with an emphasis on a harm reduction approach. Their team consists of social workers, psychologists, a lawyer, doctor, nurse, social assistant and volunteers. They provide low-threshold services to people who use drugs, sex workers, homeless people and people from marginalized groups. Their services are provided in their low-threshold drop-in centre and via mobile outreach program (street work). Activities related to hepatitis C (and other STI´s) are: testing for infectious and sexually transmitted diseases, pre-testing counselling, counselling after testing, social assistance and accompanying throughout the treatment process. They also educate general public about the types, processes and transfer of the diseases, how to protect themselves and how can they help others.
