Magdalena o.p.s.

Magdalena o.p.s. works with people living with infectious diseases mainly in harm reduction programs and addiction treatment. HR programs are mainly about testing their low-threshold clients in drop-in centres and outreach programs. If the infection is detected, they then mediate the possibility of treatment and support the client throughout the treatment. They test clients for syphilis, hepatitis C, hepatitis B and HIV. In the Czech Republic, there is the highest incidence of hepatitis C among users of addictive substances, so Magdalena o.p.s. focuses mostly on education and prevention, especially in the context of this disease. Hepatitis B is on the decline in the Czech Republic. In the treatment of addiction, they also work with people who have an infectious disease, but they often come to us already diagnosed and with a set treatment. If they come to one of our outpatient clinics for the first contact, infectious diseases are one of the things they ask about. They then offer the possibility of testing. In residential treatments, being tested for infectious diseases is mandatory. Every year Magdalena o.p.s. participates in various events supporting resistance among clients, but also in the majority population. They took a part in European test week, providing hepatitis and HIV testing and they shared posts about testing on their social media networks, etc. They have various projects to increase the resistance rate of the user population and improve the reach of treatment for this population, working closely with the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague.
