Hope Life International (HLI) established Palliative care in the Gambia as far back in 2004/2005 to care for terminate ill, the children and older people. It was established out of the concerned to provide care, pain relief and comfort measures for terminally ill patients so their death is unnecessarily painful and undignified.
We conducted first ever training in palliative care In 2009/2010, with German partner for doctors, nurses, social workers and other health care professional. The total of 45 and 53 health care professionals were trained respectively.

Hope Life is committed to helping vulnerable enjoy life in all its fullness. Our work with families, communities and local partners strives to improve the well-being of vulnerable people, in the most important aspects of their lives. Our efforts address basic needs, but also go beyond those to include the spiritual, psychological and relational aspects of thriving in a vibrant and empowered community.
Hope Life works in three countries, including urban and rural areas, to bring help and hope to the world’s most vulnerable. We employ local staff in order to develop local partnerships that strengthen communities and empower people.
Hope Life designed programmes to address people’s urgent needs and to ensure that people’s well-being is sustained for the long term. We work to empower communities, families and children to tackle the root causes of poverty and build a better future together.
