The Honduran Liver Health Foundation (FUNHEPA) has been actively engaged in initiatives to prevent, diagnose, and manage viral hepatitis, with a primary focus on education, early detection, and treatment access. Their key activities include:
1. Awareness Campaigns:
• Development and dissemination of educational materials on hepatitis prevention and treatment through social media, community events, and public health campaigns.
• Launch of “Hepatoberto,” a character designed to educate the public about liver health and the risks associated with hepatitis.
2. Medical Brigades and Community Outreach:
• Organization of health brigades, such as “Hepatoberto en tu Comunidad,” which provide free medical evaluations and information on liver health in underserved areas.
3. Capacity Building and Training:
• Hosting advanced medical courses and webinars, including topics related to hepatocellular carcinoma and viral hepatitis, to enhance healthcare professionals’ knowledge and skills.
4. Research and Advocacy:
• Conducting research projects to assess the prevalence and risk factors of iver diseases in Honduras.
5. Support for Patients:
• Offering guidance and support for patients with viral hepatitis, including connections to specialized care and treatment pathways.
Through these efforts, FUNHEPA is committed to contributing to the elimination of viral hepatitis in alignment with the WHO’s 2030 goals.
