Association Yemini Santé

Officially registered in January 2018, Association YEMINI SANTÉ (AYES) is a socio-health association with the following objectives:

• To envision a healthy world for sustainable development;
• To combat all forms of disease;
• To promote the use of new information and communication technologies in the field of health;
• To raise public awareness about environmental protection issues as a means to ensure good health.

According to the action plan, the main activities related to viral hepatitis are integrated with those addressing HIV. These activities include:

• Community outreach to sexually active individuals and key populations to raise awareness about the risks of infection and prevention methods for both viral hepatitis and HIV;
• Public campaigns aimed at encouraging the population to visit health centres for testing and vaccination;
• Organization of discussion-based conferences on viral hepatitis, particularly in secondary cities in Congo such as Dolisie and Sibiti;
• Coordination of events to mark World Hepatitis Day on July 28;
• Advocacy efforts to promote free testing services and medical care. Efforts were also made to mobilize young people to get tested and to encourage pregnant and breastfeeding women to vaccinate their children.

As part of HIV campaigns, an educational talk was organized in Dolisie (the third-largest city in Congo) to inform young people about the risks of HIV-HCV-HBV co-infection and the importance of getting tested.
