The Association participated in the World Hepatitis Summit 2024 and presented abstracts titled “Integrating HCV “test-treat-prevent” care into primary health care in a developing country context” and “Integrated Hepatitis C care at primary health compared to hospital clinics: cost effectiveness study.” Currently, the organization is in the process of drafting complete manuscripts against the two abstracts that will be ready for publication in coming weeks.
ASD has been involved in the following hepatitis related activities:
• Developed a replicable model to deliver Hep C ‘test-treat-prevent’ care at 48 RHCs in 6 selected districts of Punjab
– As part of the intervention, care protocols and materials were developed, staff was trained, program EMR was put in-place, sample
storage and transport mechanisms were established, and pan-genotypic drugs were provided free-of-cost
– A total of around 79,000 individuals were screened (rapid tested), around 25,000 individuals were confirmatory tested (PCR), and a
total of around 8,700 individuals were treated
• Developed a replicable model to deliver ‘test-link’ care at BHUs
– 460 BHUs were enabled to offer screening (rapid testing) and refer individuals found reactive
• Generated evidence of effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and feasibility of the interventions for informed future decisions
• This model has since been scaled throughout the province of Sindh
