La ASSCAT es una organización comunitaria no gubernamental con sede en Barcelona que trabaja para informar sobre las hepatitis y temas relacionados , concienciar a la ciudadanía sobre la grave problemática de estas enfermedades, evitar la estigmatización y dar soporte al paciente en todos los ámbitos vivenciales de su enfermedad, así como a sus familiares.
Uno de sus objetivos fundamentales es informar y educar sobre los avances en el desarrollo de nuevos fármacos para tratar las hepatitis virales. También el activismo para incidir sobre las políticas públicas dirigidas a responder a la epidemia que constituyen las hepatitis virales es parte muy importante de nuestro esfuerzo , dado el momento crucial en el que nos encontramos actualmente.
