About Asia Lanka Social Development Co-operation (ALSDC) from Sri Lanka

Since 2020, Asia Lanka Social Development Cooperation (ALSDC) has been actively engaged in addressing Hepatitis in the Kalutara and Colombo districts through community-level interventions, awareness creation, testing, and referral support.
Key Activities and Achievements:

  • Community Testing and Identification:
    More than 600 individuals were tested for Hepatitis through ALSDC-led screening initiatives.
  • Referral for Treatment:
    327 individuals diagnosed with Hepatitis were successfully referred to government health facilities for further management.
  • Treatment Initiation:
    Out of those referred, 250 individuals commenced medical treatment under proper clinical guidance.
  • Cure and Recovery:
    Approximately 125 patients have been cured to date, marking significant progress in treatment adherence and recovery.
  • Awareness and Advocacy:
    ALSDC organized and participated in awareness programs to educate communities on prevention, early detection, and treatment of Hepatitis.
  • World Hepatitis Day was celebrated annually to highlight the importance of Hepatitis prevention and elimination efforts.
  • Impact:
    These sustained efforts have contributed to reducing stigma, improving treatment access, and promoting community awareness on Hepatitis in Kalutara and Colombo districts, in line with global goals to eliminate viral Hepatitis as a public health threat.
