The Community Impact Programme (CIP) is WHA’s free online training course to help you become a powerful force for change.
Build your skills
Through e-learning, CIP will build your understanding of hepatitis and its intersection with many other challenges like requesting support from funders, liver cancer and its relationship to hepatitis, and universal health coverage.
It will also teach you how to advocate, providing the tools vital to influence others, no matter your cause. Skills learned on the course will let you develop a message and deliver it effectively.
Modular learning
Complete a range of e-learning modules, in any order, at your own pace. New modules will be added on a regular basis.
Current modules include:
- Understanding hepatitis
- Hepatitis B, C and D
- Understanding diagnosis
- Hepatitis and liver cancer
- Developing an advocacy strategy 1, 2 and 3
- Requesting support from funders
- Universal Health Coverage

Community Impact Programme - accelerator
The CIP accelerator programme, based on the learnings of the CIP e-learning course, aims to improve your ability to advocate at a city, state and national level for viral hepatitis services and funding. It will do this through the achievement of four objectives:
- Develop your expertise in viral hepatitis prevention, testing and treatment.
- Support you to empower civil society to fully engage with hepatitis and the wider health agenda.
- Establish your advocacy skills to ensure you achieve results through strategic planning and implementation.
- Elevate the voice of your community through impactful communications.
The current cohort
Hosted by a dedicated course trainer, advocates took part in five online workshops, occurring every two weeks between September and December 2024. There was also a face-to-face session as part of the Conference on Liver Disease in Africa (COLDA) in Cairo, Egypt, on the week of 16 September.
The story so far
The first CIP accelerator cohort began in April 2024. Participants from 15 different countries worked alongside one another to develop their expertise and empower one another through the learnings on the course. The participants recently had a chance to meet in person at the World Hepatitis Summit 2024 in Lisbon, where they reflected on their advocacy journeys so far and discussed how to develop these strategies going forward.
The cohort concluded in June and a was large success for the learning, growth and development of advocates around the world.
