2 weeks until World Hepatitis Day!

14 Jul 2015 Bridie Taylor

July 28 is now fast approaching and it’s set to be the biggest World Hepatitis Day yet! But we need your support to ensure we reach as many people as possible and make a real difference in awareness of and action against hepatitis throughout the world.

This year’s campaign focuses on prevention as better understanding of how to reduce transmission is fundamental to preventing future deaths. We have created a multitude of materials and resources free for those wishing to mark the day as well as using innovative social media platforms to generate public awareness.

Countdown to World Hepatitis Day – checklist:

Provide a voice

For every death, a voice – we’re asking 4,000 people to stand up and be counted in the quest to raise awareness of viral hepatitis. You can provide a voice for the 4,000 lives that will be lost on World Hepatitis Day this year. You could even film a short video from your phone or computer, like rock band Fightstar, and post your film online. Together your voices become a powerful symbol for the need for action to prevent future deaths. Tweet using the hashtag #4000Voices or sign up directly online to join the movement.

Join the Thunderclap

By joining the Thunderclap you will be contributing your Twitter avatar to our 4000 Voices mosaic and adding your voice to call for action on World Hepatitis Day. The Thunderclap will help us to send a unified message to millions of people on July 28 and we have already received support from influential people such as Sir Richard Branson, Stephen Fry, Dr Christian Jessen and Fightstar as well as international organisations including the United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime, Regional offices of the World Health Organization and Regional offices of UNAIDS. Sign-up today via Twitter or Facebook and don't forget to invite any local celebrities, policy makers, or influential spokespeople to join the Thunderclap and give their voice to 4000 Voices.
