Pacientes de hepatite C podem recorrer à Justiça para garantir medicamento
Muitos portadores do vírus da hepatite C no Brasil são obrigados a interromper o tratamento na rede pública com o medicamento Interferon Peguilado, mesmo que ainda não estejam curados. Isso ocorre porque o Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) fornece o produto durante 48 semanas, conforme previsto em um protocolo do Ministério da Saúde. Infelizmente, nem todo o organismo reage da mesma forma nesse período.
Como a prorrogação do uso do remédio não é permitida no SUS, o jeito é comprá-lo em drogarias (cerca de R$ 300,00 para cada aplicação, que é semanal) ou recorrer à Justiça. O segundo caminho é a opção de muitos moradores da Baixada Santista. Desde 2005, todos os pacientes da região têm assegurado o direito de receber o antiviral por um período superior a 48 semanas, desde que haja a recomendação médica. >>
