Campaign Materials
Every year, the World Hepatitis Alliance develops campaign materials that can be used on and around World Hepatitis Day, to help raise awareness, improve understanding and combat the stigma associated with hepatitis B and C. In 2010, the World Hepatitis Day campaign aims to explain:
- The extent of viral hepatitis infection across the world in a way that grabs public, media and political attention
- The global human story of viral hepatitis, focusing on the real life impact of these diseases to generate increased understanding among the general public
In 2008, the World Hepatitis Alliance launched the global awareness raising campaign programme theme ‘Am I Number 12?’. The campaign has a simple message and is designed to communicate the fact that one in 12 people worldwide is living with either viral hepatitis B or C – with a prevalence far higher than HIV or any cancer. It was also intended to encourage people to question themselves (rather than stigmatise others) and, if appropriate, to get tested. The campaign has been a huge success and continues to be used by hundreds of patient groups around the world.
In 2010, the World Hepatitis Alliance is launching a new campaign theme ‘This is hepatitis…’, which will for the first time tell the global human story of what viral hepatitis actually means – communicated by the people most closely affected by the diseases. This new theme is part of the overall ‘Am I Number 12?’ campaign and all new materials will carry the ‘This is hepatitis...’ theme.
