I had my 4th shot of Interferon on Friday night. So far what I'm feeling the most is tired. I've had a busy couple of weeks, with work and preparing my presentation for the Hepatitis Conference in Brisbane next week. It has taken it out of me and I don't have much left over for writing or keeping in touch with people.
I am supposed to start taking the Boceprevir tablets next Friday, the day of my 5th shot. But the drugs haven't arrived in Cairns yet and won't be here before I leave for Brisbane on Wednesday morning. So now I will start the Boceprevir on Monday the 28th, a few days late. I don't think that is a really big deal but it does cause me concern that there could be supply problems with the drug. It is essential that once you start taking it you continue within the strict timeframe until the treatment finishes, otherwise you could develop resistence.
I got my 2 week blood results last week. My ALT and AST both went up, which surprised me but is not unheard of. Both had been normal and rose to outside the normal range. My Hb fell but not dramatically and my White Cell Count and Neutrophils both went down a fair bit. Both are still okay though.
Next week I get my week 4 bloods taken.
I'm feeling quite drained so I will sign off now. I'll write after the conference.
