Please support this worthy venture any way you can.  Start by checking out the Facebook page and joining the group.  Let's make this event HUGE!  Together we can make it happen.

Hepatitis C Concert - Mission PDF Print E-mail

I opened up a Group on Facebook, its called Hepatitis C Concert, you can search for it on Facebook and ask to join and I will add you. It is an 'open' group.

Our Mission
The reason for this group is to create a Network to bring people together for a Concert, the concert will be a Fundraiser and also promote Awareness for Hepatitis C, we want to use this to have a GATHERING of people with Hepatitis C from anywhere in the world. Adelaide, South Australia is where this event will be held.

Some of you in this Group do not have hepatitis C, but you are a musician, and we would like to ask you to join me in making this event happen.
Some of you are friends of mine, and friends of other friends infected with hepatitis C. They are too scared to confide in you that they are infected because of the discrimination and stigma associated with this disease.
HEPATITIS C DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE:

Modes of Transmission:

*Blood Transfusions

*Tattoos

*Transplants

*Surgery - unsafe hygiene 'practices'

*Fighting - blood to blood e.g. Domestic violence, men fighting in pubs

*Dental procedures

*Playing sports - blood rule

*Sharing needles (IDU)

*Vietnam Vets are also victims of this disease when mass vaccinations were given during the Vietnam war, with the same needle.

*Italians were infected because of mass vaccinations using same needles.

Hepatitis C is NOT a drug users disease. We are all VICTIMS of this disease.

Hepatitis C has been around for thousands of years, and it was 'spread' because of WAR, men fighting, blood to blood.

Everyone knows about AIDS & HIV, but in comparison little or nothing is getting out there about Hepatitis C, and given the potential number of carriers out there, and the benefits of 'GETTING TESTED" & GETTING TREATED" to those people who could be 'anybody' really, is enormous. Sounds like a pretty good reason to me, concern for our Fellow Man.

What We Need

We need bands/musicians to play for free, we need donated amps/staging/mixers/everything the band needs.

We need sponsorship, so use your own contacts to help bring this together.

We need volunteers to help.

We need 'security'

We need Butchers/Supermarkets to donate sausages for sausage sizzle

We need donations to raffle

We need a venue

We need to organise groups for waste management

I know that all of you can help in some way, please feel it in your heart to help this cause where there is so much discriminations and stigma, we need help to bring Public Awareness, raise funds to help those in need of help, and also for research into finding a cure.

This event will also be a GATHERING for people with Hepatitis C from around the world.
It will be held in Adelaide, South Australia
If anyone wants to add to any of this list, or offer any suggestions/ideas, support and help, please feel free to comment or contact me by email  linda@hepcaustralia.com.au

    19 March 2011 Hi Sharon.....

Thank you for what you are doing...I live in the US but would like to share my blog for anyone you may know going through treatment.
I am in week 38 of 48 and it has been so difficult but worth it as thus far the virus is cleared.

If I can offer any emotional or practical support as a patient please share my blog
