We're live!

2/05/10

We’re online!  And the final countdown to World Hepatitis Awareness Day 2010 has begun, with only 16 days to go.

Here in Cairns there will be a  LUNCH WITH THE LIVER NURSE  event on Monday the 17th of May at QuIHN, the Queensland Injectors Health Network, from 11am to 2pm.   Cheryl, the nurse from the Liver Clinic at Cairns Base Hospital, will be there to answer your questions about your liver, hepatitis B and C, and treatment.  And there will be a yummy free lunch!

Other events will be held around the country and around the world during that week.  Check this website or contact your local hepatitis organization to find out what’s happening in your area.  Feel free to post a comment below with the details of any events you know of.

Viral hepatitis is a serious problem.  Let’s work together to improve the quality of life of people affected by it and eliminate the stigma.

Knowledge is power!

02 May 2010 The North Carolina Hepatitis Community Voice and UNC Healthcare Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology are holding an educational event on May 18th, 2010 to celebrate World Hepatitis Day a bit early!  All are welcome!  We hope to upload pictures to the WHA website once our event is complete. Good luck to everyone holding events around the world...we can reach so many!

11 May 2010  Julie and I from QuIHN Cairns are really looking forward to the lunch as are our clients.  Thanks to a grant from the Hepatitis Council of Queensland, we will have  freshly made fruit  smoothies and and veggie  juice made in our new juicer and a BBQ with snags, chicken kebabs and fish. Snacks will be nuts and dried fruit. All healthy apart from the snags ( thats aussie for sausages), maybe we can get low fat ones, because  you can't do a Barbie without snags here!  We will have goodie bags to give away with hygeine items  like soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, razors, shampoo, tissues and some special little things like diaries and scented candles. The clients are looking forward to  meeting the liver clinic nurse who will be able to answer questions in an relaxed and informal atmosphere.  Great to have your support Sharon. You are the Bomb!

11 May 2010 Good to see you on here, Alanna.  Thanks for providing more info.  I was going to try and upload one of the flyers but I'm not sure I can do that.  Anyway you've given the whole scoop and I hope heaps of people come along.

Monica, does that tell you all you need to know?

Oh by the way Alanna, I think you can get gourmet organic snags at Coles.  ;-)
