World Hepatitis Alliance

Campaign Materials

Every year, the World Hepatitis Alliance develops campaign materials that can be used on and around World Hepatitis Day to help raise awareness, improve understanding and combat the stigma associated with hepatitis B and C

In 2008, the World Hepatitis Alliance launched the global awareness raising campaign programme theme ‘Am I Number 12?’.  The campaign has a simple message and is designed to communicate the fact that one in 12 people worldwide is living with either viral hepatitis B or C – a prevalence far higher than HIV or any cancer. It was also intended to encourage people to question themselves (rather than stigmatise others) and, if appropriate, to get tested. The campaign has been a huge success and continues to be used by hundreds of patient groups around the world.

In 2010, the World Hepatitis Alliance launched a new campaign theme ‘This is hepatitis…’ as part of the ongoing 'Am I Number 12?' disease awareness campaign. The new theme goes beyond the statistic that one in 12 people worldwide is living with hepatitis B or C by focusing on the real and varied impact of the diseases.
